The Civil Initiatives Fund (CIF) is a government grant programme for non-governmental organisations, under which projects aimed at increasing the involvement of citizens and non-governmental organisations in public life are subsidised.
The grant can be obtained for a social project. The range of actions that can be implemented covers all areas of public benefit activity. As part of the Programme, four priorities have been specified:
- Small initiatives – projects implemented under this Priority should positively influence the possibility of implementing grassroots initiatives.
- Active society – projects implemented under this Priority should involve citizens in various forms, giving them the opportunity to actively act and combine activities with gaining knowledge in the sphere of civic activities.
- Active citizens – projects implemented under this Priority should contribute to increasing citizens’ involvement in public life.
- Strong non-governmental organisations – projects implemented under this Priority should in various forms contribute to the strengthening of the potential of civic organisations, in particular the support of voluntary sector entities by federation organisations.
The legal basis of the “CIF Programme for the years 2014-2020” is Resolution No. 209/2013 of the Council of Ministers of 27 November 2013, regarding the adoption of the Civic Initiatives Fund Programme for the years 2014-2020 (PL) and Resolution No. 213/2017 amending the resolution on the acceptance of the Civil Initiatives Fund for 2014-2020.
